Weekend Analayis from the top games

Another controversial and breath taking weekend of football in the Premier League. Goals galore along with several bookings branded.

West Ham 1-5 Arsenal. The hammers woes at their home ground, the Olympic stadium, continue with many fans now expecting a relegation battle this season. Defensively poor but marred by key injuries along with the dip in the form to Dimtri Payet contributed to a thrashing.

Arsenal for once showed the quality they have. Alexis Sanchez can the show with three well taken goals. A easy win, yet show their reliance to the Chilean striker to produce the goals.

Crystal Palace 2-0 Southampton. Relief for Alan Pardew to get his first win in six games. Defensive errors for Southampton, especially Fraser Forster miss-kick gifted the three point to Palace. Southampton inconsistencies continue possibly as a result of the Europa League.

Man City 1-3 Chelsea. On the face of it a comfortable win for top of table with three second half goals for Chelsea. Guardiola’s men were the better side of the first half and overall dominated in the chances created, yet Aguero for one couldnt find the back of the net in the game. David Luiz could have been sent off for a last man foul but escaped any punishment. The attacking threat, especially on the counter, of Chelsea was City’s undoing in the end with a game they will feel should have come away with a result.

The handbags at the end marred the contest with Aguero and Fernandinho being sent off, absences that will majorly impact City over the christmas period.  Huge credit must go to Antonio Conte for the eight game winning streak he is on and despite being lucky at time in this game, champions often get the luck over the season.

Bournemouth 4-3 Liverpool. A game to represent the Premier League if there ever was one. 2-0 up at half time looked like business as usual for Jurgen Klopp’s team, yet defensive vulnerabilities were shown once again.

The absence of centre back Joel Matip was without doubt a big miss, but to be 3-1 up with 15 minutes left is poor from the Reds. Bournemouth showed the team spirit and determination to get back into the game and four second half goals represented what their efforts deserved.

Tottenham 5-0 Swansea. The scoreline shows it all. 16 shots on target for Spurs, 0 for Swansea. Bob Bradley seemed to have turned a corner, but this brought reality back as they are fighting to avoid the drop. A poor performance from the welsh side, who seemed to set up in an adventurous 4-3-3, proving too risky to play at White Hart Lane.

Swansea remain bottom, could another manager change be on the cards? Spurs were excellent, with Dembele running the show. Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane continued their rich vain of form and will need to with Man United up next.
