Plenty of goals in this round of fixtures, with group standings decided.
Group A- 1st Arsenal, 2nd PSG, 3rd Ludogorets, 4th Basel
Arsenal came out comfortable winners in Switzerland with a 4-1 scoreline. A dominate display from the first minute showed the class the gunners can produce when necessary. Basel looked dangerous at times and deserved the goal for their efforts. PSG came unstuck against a one again brillant attacking Ludogorets side. An Angel Di Maria equaliser in the dying seconds saved embarrassment. The french champions only manged four shots on target from 25 shots and 19 corners, suggesting they miss Zlatan Ibrahimovic a bit too much.

Group B- 1st Napoli, 2nd Benfica, 3rd Besiktas, 4th Dynamo Kyiv
Not the results that many thought. Besiktas were hammered away in Ukraine losing 6-0. Four down at half time and only 10 men on the pitch suggested the Turkish side weren’t going to advance into the knockout stages. An even game in Portugal played out, with Napoli simply taking their chances and coming out 2-1 winners, becoming top of the group.
Group C- 1st Barcelona, 2nd Man City, 3rd Borussia Moenchengladbach, 4th Celtic
The group standings were as expected before a ball was kicked. The Spanish giants were comfortable as Gladbach and were never threatened. Celtic were very much value for their point and could have taken all three with better finishing, having six shots on target to Man City’s two. Pep Guardiola’s side had a goal ruled out for offside, but never really got out of second gear.
Group D 1st Atletico Madrid, 2nd Bayern Munich, 3rd FC Rostov, 4th PSV
Another close game for the top two teams in the group with one goal from Robert Lewandowski settling it. Munich dominated the match in terms of possession, but struggled to get past a Madrid side schooled in defending. Much the same happened in the other game in the group. PSV knew they had to win, but despite 17 shots couldn’t find the back of the net. FC Rostov are worthy of their Europa League spot with strong defensive displays in the group.
